Terms of Use

Sofiaslist is an online classifieds marketplace. We build and maintain the technology that lets people post and browse ads for goods, housing, jobs, services, and community listings.

We are not a party to any transaction between users. We don’t buy or sell anything, broker deals, or guarantee the accuracy of any listing. Every transaction is between the buyer and seller directly.

You must be at least 18 years old to use Sofiaslist. By using the platform, you confirm you meet that requirement and have the legal capacity to enter a binding agreement.

If you’re using the platform on behalf of a company or organization, you confirm you have authority to bind that organization to these terms.

Browsing Sofiaslist does not require an account. Posting a listing and messaging another user both require a free account - magic link, Google, or X (Twitter) sign-in. The account requirement is an anti-spam measure; without it bots flood inboxes and the storage bucket.

You’re responsible for keeping your login method (email or third-party provider) secure and for everything that happens under your account. If you think someone has accessed your account without permission, contact hello@sofiaslist.com right away. Please provide accurate information when signing up and keep it up to date. You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Danger zone.

All buyer-to-seller messaging happens inside the Sofiaslist inbox. We do not expose either party’s email address until both sides choose to share it. Messages are stored only so both sides can keep the conversation, and we do not read them, share them, or use them to train AI. Misuse of messaging (spam, scams, harassment) can result in suspension under section 8.

You can post listings for legal goods, services, housing, and jobs, as long as what you’re offering is honest and accurate. A few specific rules:

• Post each item or offer only once: no duplicate listings.
• Only use photos you own or have the right to publish.
• Don’t scrape images from other listings or websites.
• Make sure your listing complies with applicable law where you are.

The following are strictly prohibited. Violations can result in immediate content removal, account suspension, and referral to law enforcement.

• Illegal goods or services: weapons, drugs, stolen or counterfeit goods, or anything else prohibited by law.
• Fraud and deception: fake listings, bait-and-switch, advance-fee schemes, phishing, or impersonating another person.
• Adult content: explicit sexual content or services of a sexual nature.
• Harassment and hate: threats, bullying, or content that discriminates based on race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or any other protected characteristic.
• Spam: posting the same listing repeatedly, using bots, or sending unsolicited messages through the platform.
• Others’ private information: sharing someone else’s contact details, financial information, or personal data without their consent.
• Content involving minors: anything that exploits or endangers anyone under 18.
• Platform interference: attempting unauthorized access, introducing malware, or disrupting the platform’s operation.

You own the content you post. By posting it, you give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, display, and distribute it, but only as needed to operate the platform.

That license ends when you delete your content or close your account, except for copies held in routine backups or as required by law. You confirm that your content doesn’t infringe anyone else’s rights and that you have the rights needed to grant this license.

The platform (including its design, code, trademarks, and all Sofiaslist content) belongs to Sofiaslist or its licensors. These terms don’t give you any right to use our brand or intellectual property without written permission.

Any feedback or suggestions you share with us may be used freely by us without any obligation to you.

We reserve the right to remove content and suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or that we believe are harmful to other users or the platform. We may do this at any time and without prior notice.

We also use automated systems (including AI) to help review content. These systems aren’t perfect, and we can’t guarantee that all prohibited content will be caught promptly.

Sofiaslist is provided as-is. We don’t guarantee that the platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any listing is accurate, legal, or safe to act on. We don’t verify the identity of users or the quality of anything advertised.

Use of the platform and reliance on any listing is at your own risk.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Sofiaslist and its team won’t be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages (including loss of money, data, or business) arising from your use of the platform or any transaction you make through it.

Our total liability to you for any claim related to the platform won’t exceed the greater of (a) what you paid us in the prior 12 months, or (b) $100.

You agree to defend and hold Sofiaslist harmless from any claims, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) that arise from your use of the platform, your content, or your violation of these terms or any third party’s rights.

These terms are governed by the laws of California, USA. For any disputes not resolved through arbitration, you consent to the jurisdiction of courts in San Francisco County, California.

Talk to us first. Before starting any formal process, please contact us at legal@sofiaslist.com and give us 30 days to work it out informally.

Arbitration. If informal resolution fails, disputes will be resolved by binding individual arbitration through JAMS under its Streamlined Rules, in San Francisco or by videoconference. The arbitrator’s decision is final and enforceable in court.

No class actions. You and Sofiaslist each waive the right to participate in class-action lawsuits or class-wide arbitration.

Opt out. You can opt out of arbitration by emailing us within 30 days of first accepting these terms. Opting out doesn’t affect anything else in these terms.

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we’ll update the date at the top. For material changes, registered account holders will receive at least 14 days’ notice by email before the changes take effect.

Continuing to use Sofiaslist after updated terms take effect means you accept the changes. If you don’t agree, please stop using the platform.

These terms, together with our Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and Sofiaslist regarding the platform. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest of these terms remain in effect. Our failure to enforce any provision isn’t a waiver of that provision.

You may not assign your rights under these terms without our consent. We may freely assign ours, including in connection with a merger or acquisition.
